About Thomas M. Borchert

Thomas M. Borchert is an independent agent representing his clients in analyzing and acquiring insurance products that meet their goals. As an independent broker of financial products and services, Thom focuses on retirement income analysis and enhancement, life insurance policy auditing, social security benefit timing and health insurance.  

Has held the position of Agent and Manager at Prudential Financial's Iowa and Midwestern Agency from 1979 to 2008 as a licensed agent and registered representative. He achieved Financial Planner certification complimenting his career-long Estate Planning experience. He also received the prestigious National Life Founders Award and the National Long Term Care Masters Certification and the National Champions Award along with many sales achievement awards over the years.  

In 1994, he became the first Accredited Estate Planner in northwest Iowa, and is one of only eight currently certified. His practice has always emphasized counseling and educating clients regarding their financial situation and facilitating acquisition of suitable financial products. Thom provides employee benefit analysis and cost reduction strategies for businesses, along with owner and key employee personal financial services.

In November 2007, Thom was elected to the National Board of Directors of the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils (NAEPC), the premiere multi-disciplinary (Attorneys, CPAs, Trust Officers, Financial Planners and Agents) organization focused on estate planning. He is currently Chair of the organization's Monthly Webinar series and frequently serves as its moderator.

Thom is a graduate of Upper Iowa and Truman Universities where he earned degrees in Business Administration, Psychology, and Education. He then earned a Master's degree in Counseling. He was granted a lifetime teaching certificate by the State of Iowa. He and wife, Barbara, have two children and ten grandchildren and have been Sioux City residents for 33 years.
